“ One of my favorite places to go for Mexican food in the area. Decent prices, nothing too outrageous. I tend to get the enchiladas which come with rice and beans. (rating 4/5 with the green sauce). I usually ask for some hot sauce on the side as well. I usually dine in. The restaurant is not the largest, but spacing is comfortable and there are usually many seats available. There are also some seats at the bar. The dining area is clean and well-kept. No complaints about the service, very standard. They also do taco tuesdays which I haven't had the pleasure of trying yet - on my to-do list! ”

“ holy crap talk about getting lucky when you choose a random spot to try! we just came in on w him to burn some time before linking with my in laws. i didnt even check on yelp beforehand we just walked in and was overall impressed. the service was good, pretty friendly! loved the decor it was cute and colorful! the food was fresh and delish. we got chips guac salsa and queso. i loved it all and would totally come back for a proper meal! ”

“ My daughter and I are taco fans and love to find new spots. I read great reviews on yelp so we paid a visit. First off , it's small, quaint restaurant with ample space. Clean as well. The Guacamole was very good, fresh and chunky with cilantro, onions, tomato and little too much lime but still very good. The fish tacos are the go to here. Some of the best I've had on Long Island. Lightly fried cod with cilantro and shredded cabbage but not too much in a corn tortilla. The chicken tacos were pretty good but the chicken was a bit dry. The lengua was my least favorite. The texture was squishy and chewy without much flavor. Carnitas was ok but a bit dry as well. Service was fine with friendly staff and fairly quick . I'll return for the guac and fish tacos ”

“ You know when you leave a place and still think about it randomly? That's this place for me! Me and my cousins all left speechless because everything we ate was just too good! There is limited seating but the staff makes you feel at home. We started off with the guava, mango, and tamarind margaritas which were a hit! Then we got guac and chips for the table and tried the steak quesadilla and mix and match tacos. I HIGHLY recommend the tacos. The ratio of meat to tortilla with slaw was superb. Our dessert of choice were the churros and each bite I promise we just wanted to get another order to go. I also tried the horchata and found myself wanting more. I can definitely see myself circling the block on this one. ”

“ Everything was solid! The guac and chips tasted very authentic and I got 3 tacos (the crispy fish, carne asada, and pollo). My favorite was probably the fish because it was perfectly warm and seasoned. I would absolutely come back - there was a decent number of customers when I went but there was spacious seating with some music. I felt bad for our server because it seemed like he was the only person working the floor that night. As a result, things were moving a bit slow but not his fault. Overall an amazing meal! ”

“ We've visited Mala Madre Taqueria a couple of times for both dine-in and take-out, and think Mala Madre offers better food than other nearby Mexican restaurants. Dishes we've had include: - Carne Asada Burrito: $15.95 ($17.37 with tax) - Shrimp Burrito - Vegetarian Burrito: $11.95 ($13.01 with tax). Get this. - Vegetarian Taco: $5.45 ($5.93 with tax) - Lengua Taco: $5.95 ($6.47 with tax) The burritos seemed on the small side, but they were packed with ingredients. The Vegetarian Burrito was one of the most delicious burritos I've had, with the fragrant flavors of the portobello mushrooms being especially noticeable. Portobellos hold water, but the moisture from each bite is absorbed by the burrito rice, so the food isn't overly moist. The Carne Asada and shrimp burritos were less flavorful, but green and hot sauces are provided on the side. Other: - The background music was loud, ostensibly to drown-out conversations from other patrons. - Service was good. We saw staff open the door for senior citizens coming into and leaving the establishment. - There is one well-maintained unisex bathroom with ADA grab bars. - We were charged 8.875% (New York City) sales tax instead of 8.625% (Nassau County) sales tax. - The receipt says there is a 3.75% discount for paying with cash, but that amount isn't calculated on the receipt. ”
